SAMSUNG TO HOST 4th ANNUAL VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON

Saluting our Veterans

NEWBERRY, S.C. On Saturday, November 14, Samsung Electronics Home Appliance America (SEHA) will host its 4th Annual Veterans Day Luncheon at the Veteran’s Affair Office in Newberry, South Carolina.

Though the pandemic has altered normal operations, Samsung is still dedicated to serving Veterans and their families. To adhere to safety protocols, the luncheon will be a drive-through event. Veterans and their families of up to four can come take a meal to-go in honor of Veterans Day. Each year, the luncheon has been a success and SEHA is excited to be able to carry on this tradition of expressing gratitude to Veterans during these unprecedented times.

Samsung’s support of veterans is evident in its ongoing outreach to the community. Samsung has been involved in various initiatives catered to veterans. Most recently, in August of 2020, Samsung partnered with the Manufacturing Institute to bring awareness to the rise in unemployment of veterans as a result of COVID-19. The goal is to bridge the gap between the military and manufacturing. Through years of dedication and support, Samsung has supplemented their efforts with events like the upcoming Veterans Day Luncheon.

Samsung is proud to work closely with veterans not only as members of the community, but esteemed employees of Samsung as well. “Veterans are a great fit at Samsung because they already know how to work independently as well as within a structured unit or team,” said Sherri Satterfield, Director of Human Resources for SEHA. “At Samsung, we value their skills, personal accountability, dependability, and perseverance to get the job completed.

The Luncheon will be held at 1865 Wilson Road, Newberry, SC, 29108.

SC Realtors Letter to the Editor - Good Life Campaign

The average minimum wage worker in South Carolina has to work 82 hours each week to afford a one-bedroom apartment. Affordable housing has become a statewide issue and Charleston has not been spared of the burden. Rentals are averaging $1,300 a month with most minimum wage workers earning $1,200 a month. The South Carolina Realtors’ (SCR) are focused on promoting the standards of living that all South Carolinians deserve. As realtors, we have unique resources and knowledge that enable us to lead the community to a sustainable and affordable future.

We’ve utilized these resources to develop The South Carolina Good Life Initiative – a project aiming to preserve quality of life in South Carolina. Charleston’s affordable housing crisis is due in part to rapid population growth. Growth is great, however, traffic, taxes and overall affordability are growing pains that have to be addressed. With large corporations expanding to South Carolina, the cost of living keeps increasing. The S.C. Good Life Initiative works to ensure that South Carolina preserves livable conditions throughout the state.

SCR is here to help voice concerns surrounding all issues related to economic growth and affordability. With a special focus on population growth, public safety, affordable housing and education, South Carolina Realtors is prepared to help restore faith in South Carolina residents.
